The cylinder head gasket has declivities or depressions (8) spaced from the edges of the apertures corresponding to the engine combustion chambers. A ring-shaped super-elevation section is provided to act as a deformation limiter. The gasket has at least one flat support plate (2). The super-elevation sections formed by rings (10) and the at least one support plate are so fitted on the side of the declivity turned away from the corresponding aperture (3) that they support on the unions (13) of the cylinder running bushes (12). The rings are connected to one another in one piece in the manner of spectacles.
