The invention relates to a closure device such as a cone valve (1) for obturating a filling or discharge opening (2) of a container (3) for flowable material, such as powder, comprising at least two initially separate parts (4 and 5) secured together by an interference fit. The closure device (1) has a seating means for mounting a flexible C-shaped external seal means (10), which engages a lip of a hopper outlet for the flowable material. There is also disclosed a plastic substantially flat retaining member 100 (Figure 7) which engages in the cone valve and holds the valve in position in the opening against unwanted movement, particularly during transport.
