Gas chromatograph with separate calibration and purging auxiliaries

A gas chromatograph (1) for the analysis of gas samples held under pressure in steel containers has an automatic container handling unit (12) for the transfer of samples to a separator column (not shown) via a conduit (4) supervised by the system controller (24). A series of such containers temporarily housed in a step-by-step feeder unit (not shown) ave. successively connected to the separator column via a coupling valve (13) and are controlled in conjunction with a carrier gas by a rotary distributor (7). An external assembly linked by the single conduit (6) enables selection of a calibration gas (10) or purging medium (11) which are reverse fed through the system via a multi-position valve unit (8).
