Vertical screw press for extruded ceramic base material

The press has stationary knives (18,19) which release water or steam supplied from feeder tubes into the ceramic mass. Each knife has outlet holes positioned along its length pointing away from the hub (25) of the screw (6). The outlet holes are aligned to discharge on the downstream side of the knife w.r.t. the rotational movement of the ceramic mass. The stationary knives break up the flow of the rotating ceramic material. The holes release water or steam into the ceramic mass away from the hub and the walls of the press.
