A small, portable, light-weight pneumatic spot weld drill (10) comprises a drill housing assembly (12) which includes a trigger assembly (14) for providing a supply of pressurized gas. A piston assembly (30) is positioned within the drill housing assembly (12) and is axially translatable thereto. The piston assembly (30) is actuated by the pressurized gas so as to provide cutting pressure for the drill bit (64). A motor assembly (60) is contained within the drill housing assembly (12). The motor assembly (60) has a rotatable output shaft (62) for securing a drill bit (64) and for providing rotary movement of that drill bit (64). A control valve (40) is provided for receiving a supply of the pressurized gas and for controllably discharging the pressurized gas to the motor assembly (60). The control valve (40) provides cutting pressure at a desired level and provides rotary motion of the drill bit (64). |
