Exhaust extraction system for passenger buses and automobiles

The exhaust system has an overhead exhaust duct (1) and a AC electric drive motor (6) running along a drive-rail (2) mounted on the exhaust duct. A duct with an elbow (7) supported under the duct terminates in a hood (11) positioned near the exhaust outlet of the vehicle. Proximity controls hold the hood at a preset spacing from the exhaust outlet while the vehicle moves e.g. in and out of a parking slot. A simple proximity control uses ultrasonic- or optical ranging systems and a processor control. The speed of the servo motor is regulated by current- and voltage control and the exhaust hood is kept between max. and min, spacing from the exhaust outlet.
