Pressure case for measuring tensile stress in geo-technical and building materials

The pressure case includes two oval metal plates (1,2) set parallel to one another at an adjustable distance apart. The base plate (2) has an inverted rim (3) within which the thicker upper plate (1) is fitted and held at the edge (5) by a connecting seam (4). The space between these two plates is filled with hydraulic fluid (7). One of the two holes (8,9) bored in the upper plate holds the tube to a hydraulically operated meter (6), and the other is a ventilation shaft (10) through which the hydraulic medium can be topped up and which can be closely sealed to ensure continuing accurate pressure measurements.
