Use of 1,4-dihyropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid derivs. of formula (I) as medicaments with a selective modulating effect on high-conductivity Ca-dependent K channels is new: A = 6-10C aryl or pyridyl, opt. substd. by 1-3 of NO2, CN, halogen CF3 and/or 1-6C alkylthio; R1, R2 = 3-6C cycloalkyl, or 1-8C alkyl opt. substd. by 1-2 of 1-4C alkoxy, halogen and/or NR4R5; R4, R5 = H, benzyl, phenyl or 1-4C alkyl; R3 = 3-6C cycloalkyl, or 1-6C alkyl opt. substd. by OH, phenyl, 1-6C alkoxy or 2-6C alkoxycarbonyl.
