FIELD: copper-nickel branch of nonferrous metallurgy; applicable in processing of copper-nickel sulfide ores. SUBSTANCE: converter slags are processed by teeming them into ladle and subjected to reduction smelting with slag brought in contact with 1-9% of aluminum from the slag mass at 1250-1400 C. According to the offered method, transferred into sulfonated metal is 95-100% of cobalt, i.e., 50x0.95=47.5% which may be melted with converter matte. So, introduction of special deep process of ladle impoverishment of converter slags makes it possible to raise, as compared with the known methods, the recovery of cobalt by 47.5-20=27.5%. With the cobalt content of 0.8% per every 100 t of copper-nickel matte, additional recovery will amount to 100x008x0.275=0.220 t. With the cost of one ton of cobalt of 20 thou.dollars, this will result in 0.22x20=4.4 thou.dollars. It is necessary to add to the above effect, the reduced costs for processing of one unit of converter slag for one operation in ladle (or in mixer-settler) but not in converter or electric furnace, in which instead of slag are processed matte and initial copper-nickel ore. EFFECT: performance of deep impoverishment of converter slags for one operation, higher recovery of cobalt and other valuable metals, more than ten-fold acceleration of impoverishment process as compared with the known process. |
