Plastic laundry tub for a washing machine, the tub contg. a rotatable drum the drive of which is supported by at least two axially spaced bearings in a sleeve passing through an end wall of the tub such that the sleeve (14) is obtained separately from the tub (5) by (a) using a first mould (6) for making a spacer element (19) dimensioned to maintain the bearings (12, 13) at a suitable distance apart; and (b) the spacer element (19) is placed in a second mould (20) together with the bearings (12, 13) and the plastics injection moulded about the spacer element and the bearings (12, 13) for finishing the sleeve (14); and (c) sleeve (14) is placed in a third mould (26) in which the tub (5) is obtd. by injection moulding about the sleeve (14) using another plastics material having a lesser resistance to mechanical stresses than that used for the sleeve (14). |
