The guide drum is used with a grip shaft, grips and grip impact borders adjustable for different sheet thicknesses. A positioning device (3) is fitted to act on the grip impact border (2) for individual setting of height and depth. The ends of this device can be coupled periodically to an operating device (6) via a power supply (8). The positioning device may be formed by an axially movable positioning rod (4) with several wedge-shaped elements (5). The wedge-shaped elements, acting with similar elements on the grip impact border, form a guide link in the form of a pushing wedge.
