In a plastics plasticising process using an intermittently working injection moulding machine the machine design ensures that each processing section of the screw channel is full of plastic. A claimed injection machine includes a plasticising cylinder (2) with axially movable screw (4) and a filling orifice (3) whose axial length ensures that the first part of the screw channel is open to the orifice (3) in both the max. axially forward and rearward positions of the reciprocating screw (4).
