CORROSION PROTECTION SYSTEM

FIELD: protection of underground metal objects from corrosion by application of electric current. SUBSTANCE: elongated current conducting core made, for instance of copper, is enclosed by conducting polymeric compound which is in electric contact with core. Placed between outer polymeric shell and polymeric conducting compound is material rich in carbon. Resistance of polymeric shell to acids and chlorine is judged by changes in relative elongation and corresponding maximum load after dipping section of polymeric shell material into hydrochloric acid and holding it in acid for 90 days. Acid concentration should be minimum 0.01 N. Oxidized sodium hypochlorite can be used for this purpose also. As compared with same parameters at testing check section, decrease in maximum load does not exceed 40 % and 30 %, respectively, and decrease in relative elongation does not exceed 40 % and 30 % respectively. EFFECT: increased stability of shell to attack of acids and chlorine.
