<p>PURPOSE: To provide a process and apparatus for heat-decomposing plastic wastes in the presence of a metal hydroxide, saponifying the fat and oil as the decomposition product with the metal hydroxide recovered from the decomposition residues to obtain a soap, and utilizing the decomposition residues as adsorbents, etc. CONSTITUTION: Plastic waste are introduced into an atmospheric decomposition tank 23, specified amounts of an alkali and water are added from an additive tank 27 to the tank 23, and the resultant mixture is decomposed by heating. The formed gaseous decomposition product is sent to a high-pressure decomposition tank 25 and heat-decomposed, and the decomposition product is introduced into an oil recovery tank 41. The decomposition residues remaining in the tank 23 are introduced into a washing tank 45, water is fed from a cistern 47 into the tank 45, and the salts and the metal hydroxide are leached out of the residues and sent to a saponification tank 51. The fat and oil as the decomposition product are fed from the tank 41 into the tank 51, where they are saponified with the metal hydroxide to from a soap. The decomposition residues are washed and withdrawn from the tank 45 and utilized as adsorbents, etc.</p> |
