PURPOSE: To record stably with good quality at all times by efficiently eliminating mixing of colors after sucking of ink without wasting ink when an ink-jet head of a liquid chamber separation type capable of discharging a plurality of colors inside is used. CONSTITUTION: When a button is pressed to recover a head, that is, a START step is instructed, a negative pressure of an ink tank of each of four colors A-D is detected (step S71). A negative pressure difference to the ink tank of the minimum negative pressure is obtained for each ink tank (step S72). The preliminary discharging number of times necessary for each of one color of the minimum negative pressure and the remaining three colors is selected (step S73). Thereafter, sucking (step S74) and wiping (S75) are conducted, and each color of four colors is preliminarily discharged by the number of times selected in the step S73 (step S76). A printing standby state is brought to an END. In this manner, mixing of colors caused after the ink is sucked is eliminated by the preliminary discharging number of times fit for a discharging row of each color ink. |
