PURPOSE: To obtain a blood separating medium having uniform composition, capable of preventing the decline in its thixotropy involved in structural viscosity destruction, thus having high shape stability. CONSTITUTION: A separation layer-forming material (pref. a high-molecular oily material pref. 200-600000cps in the viscosity at 25 deg.C) and additive(s) such as a viscosity regulator and specific gravity regulator are mixed with each other in a mixer 7 followed by kneading the resultant mixture in a dispersion mixer 8 and then defoaming the mixture in a relevant device 9 without agitation, thus obtaining the objective blood separating medium. The defoaming device 9 is a device provided with a slope to receive the above mixture and make it into a film under the mixture-falling starting point in feeding the mixture. The mixture is pref. transferred to the defoaming device 9 at a Reynolds number of <=1. The viscosity regulator and specific gravity regulator are each pref. a lipophilic laminar inorganic compound, their amounts being pref. 0.1-5 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the separation layer-forming material, respectively. |
