PURPOSE: To obtain an ink-jet recorder where a required displacement of a carriage at a time of scanning is obtained for each of heads and those magnitudes of the displacements are compared with each other to perform recording with a minimum displacement of the carriage. CONSTITUTION: A recording head consists of two or more ink-jet recording heads 9 arrayed parallel in the main scanning direction, and the recording heads 9 are attached on a carriage 6 and adequately controlled in normal and reverse direction to the main scanning direction to perform recording. An ink-jet recorder has memory 25 and a CPU 21. The memory 25 has at least a capacity enough to store recording data of each of the heads 9 to perform recording in the normal direction to the main scanning direction at a time of scanning. The CPU 21 calculates the displacements in the normal direction, in which the carriage 6 is to be moved, from the recording data for each of the heads 9 stored in the memory 25 to perform recording of a time of scanning even time the carriage 6 is moved in the normal direction and moves the carriage according to the maximum one among the displacements calculated. |
