PURPOSE: To enhance liquid discharging efficiency and to improve liquid draining performance by forming many circumferential grooves on roll surfaces. CONSTITUTION: The surfaces of the liquid draining rolls 10 are provided with rubber linings having a thickness of 5 to 10mm, on which surfaces circumferential grooves 11 are formed. The pitch P of these circumferential grooves 11 is about 1.6mm the opening angleθof the circumferential grooves 11 is 120 deg. and the depth of the circumferential grooves 11 is about 0.4mm. The contact state with a sheet 12 is roughened and the draining effect of the circumferential grooves 11 is lowered if the pitch P is too wide. Effective draining is not formed if the pitch is too narrow. About 0.5 to 2mm is, therefore, preferable. The depth (h) is preferably 0.1 to 1mm. The angleθis selected from a range of 40 to 150 deg.. As a result, the slip between the rolls and the sheet is prevented and the deterioration of the sheet surface by generation of flaws, etc., is suppressed.
