PURPOSE: To produce a corrosion resistant precipitation aging type stainless steel in which hot and cold excellent workability can be obtd. and high hardness can be imparted by cold working and aging treatment by specifying its compsn. CONSTITUTION: The compsn. of this steel is constituted of the one contg., by weight, 0.01 to 0.10% C, <=0.5% Si, <=0.10% Mn, 0.5 to 4.5% Cu, 6.0 to 12.0% Ni, 14.0 to 19.0% Cr, 0.5 to 2.5% Al and 0.01 to 0.10% N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and in which Md30, Creq and Nieq obtained by equations I and II are respectively satisfy -60 deg.C<=Md30<=-20 deg.C and 0.9 Creq-Nieq<=8.2. By regulating the compsn. using these parameters, the formation ofδferrite giving effect on its hot workability is suppressed, its perfect austenitization after solution heat treatment can be attained, and by cold working and aging treatments, high hardness of >=500Hv can be imparted thereto.
