PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive metal catalyst converter wherein durability is improved by decreasing the heat capacity and furthermore, temp. is elevated up to the activation temp. of the carried catalyst in a short time without using electric power. CONSTITUTION: A metal catalyst converter 1 is constituted of a honeycomb carrier 6 prepd. by laminating alternately flat sheets 2 and corrugated sheets and winding them, a cylindrical part 8 covering the outer periphery of this honeycomb carrier 6 and a flange 12 fixed on the outer peripheral wall of the cylindrical part 8. The flat sheet and the corrugated sheet adjoining in the radial direction are jointed together in the first jointing region 23, the second jointing region 24 and the third jointing region 25. In addition, the honeycomb carrier 6 and the cylindrical body 8 are jointed on the downstream side in the exhaust gas flow direction and a gap part 9 is formed between a slit part 4 and a cylindrical body 8 in the honeycomb carrier 6 positioned on the upstream side in the exhaust gas flow direction. |
