PURPOSE: To reliably recovery oil scattered in a cylinder block to an oil pan. CONSTITUTION: Box-like reinforcing ribs 62 to 65 are integrally formed on the side wall of a cylinder block of an engine, and inclined walls 622 to 652 facing the inside of the cylinder block 6 are provided on the box-like reinforcing ribs 62 to 65. The inclined walls 622 to 652 are inclined toward a crank connecting surface 62 from a cylinder head connecting surface 61 , and oil deposited on the inclined walls 622 to 652 is dropped from the end on the crank case connecting surface 62 to an oil pan.
