PURPOSE: To produce L-citrulline from L-arginine in high yield by using bacterial cell. CONSTITUTION: A bacterial strain capable of producing L-citrulline from L- arginine and L-ornithine from L-citrulline is subjected to a drying treatment with a water-soluble organic solvent and the obtained bacterial cell dried with the water-soluble organic solvent and free from L-ornithine productivity is brought into contact with L-arginine to obtain L-citrulline. The bacterial strain having the above activity and free from L-ornithine productivity of the dried cell depleted by the drying treatment with the water-soluble organic solvent belongs to the genus Bacillus, more particularly, Bacillus sp. No.cit-70 strain. |
