IMPELLER FOR PUMP AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE: To reduce dimensional change caused by moistening and increase mechanical strength by making a filler contained in phenol aralkyl resin blended with phenol resin only of glass fibers having fiber length less than a specified value. CONSTITUTION: Only glass fibers having the fiber length not more than 150μm as a filler are added to the resin composition of phenol aralkyl resin blended with phenol resin, mixed and kneaded together to prepare a molding material which is molded by a 100-ton injection molding machine to provide an impeller. The molding requirements are set then to 180 deg.C of metal mold temperature, 90 deg.C of the temperature of the front part of a cylinder and 50 deg.C of the temperature of the rear part of the cylinder. Thus, to set a clearance between the peripheral surface of the impeller and the inner surface of a housing as small as possible is important for a pump to provide an extremely large industrial value.
