PURPOSE: To coat instantly the whole surface of a base material with a pattern using two or more kinds of semi-mixed coatings. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus equipped with a transfer roll D which is wider than the breadth of a base materialβand installed to traverse the surface of the base materialβ, a coating channel 3 which is narrower than the breadth of the transfer roll D, is wider than the breadth of the base materialβ, is installed to traverse the surface of the transfer roll D, and has a semicircular cross section, and elastic bodies 4 which have water permeability and are installed at both ends of the coating channel 3, and more than one pipe which is connected in the coating channel 3, different kinds of coatings are supplied continuously from the pipes into the coating channel 3. The base materialβis moved in the longitudinal direction so that both side fringes in the cross direction of the base materialβpass below the elastic bodies 4 to conduct coating continuously. Since the transfer roll is wider than the coating channel, which is wider than the base material, the whole surface of the base materialβcan be coated instantly, and the pressure of coating packed into the coating channel is alleviated by the elastic bodies so that the leakage of the coating outside from end parts is prevented in the coating apparatus.
