The liq. or paste soap or cleaning agent is introduced by injection under pressure into a pre-compressed sponge. The impregnated sponge is then sterilised and packaged. The sponge is pressed against a flat surface by a hollow cap (4). The shape of the cap compresses the sponge more at the edges (6) than at the centre (7), sealing the edges of the sponge. The soap or cleaning agent is injected through a nozzle (8) at the centre of the hollow cap. The agent is injected under pressure, and when the pressure is released a spring-loaded cap (9) closes the nozzle outlet. The sponge is then enclosed in plastic film and the impregnating agent dried by passing the sponge through a microwave or vacuum drier.
