Method of sealing exhaust pipe of IC engine

The method involves sealing where an exhaust pipe (2) of an IC engine passes through an opening (11) in a housing casing (8). In particular this situation arises where the pipe enters the vehicle's heat exchanger. A constant size gap exists between the pipe and the casing. An angled seal (12) is fitted around the pipe and it overlaps the ring shaped gap (14). The seal is located to stop it moving up or down the line of the pipe whilst in use. It can be slid up the pipe for fitting. The flange (15) helps to locate the seal and maintain its correct position.
