The insertion and retraction device has a mounting block (4) secured to a profile rail of the reception frame for the plug-in circuit modules, with a pivoted lever (5) having a shoulder (36) in front of the front surface of the profile rail. A switch operating rod (24) for operating a microswitch mounted on the plug-in circuit module is controlled by the pivoted lever, so that the microswitch is operated to disconnect the current before the plug-in circuit module can be removed. Pref. the shoulder lies at a given spacing (37) from the front surface of the profile rail sufficient to allow the operation of the microswitch before the plug-in circuit module is removed.
