The invention relates to a ready-to-eat dish in which a (sub)tropical fruit is surrounded by an edible casing. The ready-to-eat dish is characterised by a peeled banana which is encased by a slice of boiled ham, the two parts being soaked in a preserving medium, comprising approximately 30% by volume sparkling wine, dry; approximately 30% by volume wine, dry; approximately 30% by volume alcohol, 36-40% strength; and approximately 10% by volume additives such as acids (formic acid, citric acid etc.), salts (sodium glutamate, iodine salt etc), spices, aroma, nutmeg, vegetable protein etc.
