The letterbox system contains at least one input unit (1) and at least one extractor unit (4) forming one unit and between which is a conveyor and storage system, also in one unit, with several receptacles (2) which are each supplied by the input and extractor units. The storage unit is movable in at least one direction. The input and extractor units have a code indicating a particular receptacle, and have a security device giving access only to authorised people.
