The compressor takes in a first medium via an air intake pipe (6), and a second medium is introduced into the pipe, which has a lower oxygen contents than the first medium. Heat energy is extracted from at least some of the waste gases generated during combustion in a waste heat boiler (10). The cooled waste gases are fed via an intake (24) into the air intake pipe. Additionally, further heat energy is also extracted in a heat exchanger (22). This is located in a return pipe (20), which extends between a branch (22) behind the waste heat boiler, and the intake.
