The waxing device used in textile machinery has a carriage for the attachment of the receptacle for a solid wax block. There is a bowed guide for directing a thread for waxing onto the solid wax piece and a stop to hold the block (11) in place. Here, the waxing device (1) has a compact unit (2) which includes the stop (3), bowed guide (4), appts. for locating the unit on the carriage (10) and appts. for fixing it to or detaching it from the carriage.
