Multi=disc friction clutch with counter-torque limiter

A variable spacing is provided for the clutch action between the drive (5) and driven shaft (2) between a central clutch element (8) on the driven shaft side and a pressure disc (9). An alternating set of friction discs (10) and clutch discs (11) are located between the central clutch element and the pressure discs. The spacing is controlled by a compression spring (12). A mechanism (20,25) converts a relative displacement in the direction between the central clutch element and the pressure disc, caused by a counter-torque, into a relative displacement in the direction of a rotary axis for increasing the spacing.
