The proposal is for a motor vehicle immobiliser with an anti-theft control device (13) and a function control device (10, 11) released by a correct unlocking communication with the anti-theft device (13). To permit the simple maintenance of individual functional engine units, the function control device (10, 11) has means of circumvention (204 to 220) permitting the exceptional unlocking of the function control device (10, 11) by an external device (19). The means of circumvention (204 to 220) include a time-delay device (206, 218) releasing the function control device (10, 11) on exceptional unlocking only after a predetermined delay (TF).
