The torque limiter is attached to a flywheel (1) at the end of the driving shaft, pressing a disc (4) against the face of the flywheel to transmit torque. Annular friction linings (41) on inner and outer faces of the disc ensure strong friction coupling. A central hub (3) is attached to the edge of the disc, and is coupled in rotation to the driven shaft. The perimeter of the flywheel carries a counter-plate (5) that presses on the outer face of the disc. A spring washer (7) extending round the periphery of the plate presses the counter-plate against the friction plate. The friction surface between the flywheel and the disc is thus effectively doubled.
