摘要 The presented invention provides a new method and device for determining the fibril angle and the relative phase retardation of single, intact pulp fibers. The new method is based on the intensity quotient ellipsometry and uses the multi-wavelength principle to determine the measurement results. The method of the invention permits a two-fiber-wall measurement, therefore requires no sample pretreatment. Compared with the existing ones, the new method is simple, fast, more accurate and non-destructive of the fiber material. A device for determining the fibril angle and the relative phase retardation of single, intact pulp fibers in accordance with the present invention comprises a light source, a polarization-optical image system, a detector and an image-processing unit.
