The frame has side sections (18), each of which has two struts (24) above the crossbar (23). Each strut extends at an angle from near the free end of a string piece (19) to a joint section (25), located centrally on the crossbar. The joint section forms the support for a bar (27) for each side section. The bar extends between the side sections to carry the roller to be transported. Both string pieces of each side section are single-sectional only. A locking device (31) between the base section (11) and each string piece locks the string pieces in upright working position to the base section, so as to be positive and releasable.
