<p>In application of a premoulded and prevulcanised thread band (2) onto a carcass (1) of an inflated tyre mounted on an mandrel (21), the tread band (2), precut to a length less than the largest circumference of the carcass (1), is placed on an application table (40) and stretched during the application to the carcass by an application roller (33) pressing the band onto the carcass with a variable force. The first part of the band is applied to the carcass with an elongation dependent on a function of the difference between the real elongation measured and the theoretical elongation corresp. to a uniform extension of the band on the carcass. At the end of the application the elongation of the end of the band is dependent on a function of the respective visual positions of the beginning and finishing ends of the band compared to a radially sensible incidence of abutment without overlap. Also claimed is the application device for supporting and rotating the tyre and the application table.</p> |
