The device is for controlling hydraulically-actuated oil well head valves having a number of modules connected to a network (6), each module (4) comprising a microprocessor (13) and an interface (23) for connection to the network (6). Each module also includes an electrically erasable programmable read only memory (17) and a random access memory (16) for the operation of the microprocessor. Output ports (24) are provided for connection to an actuator operating the hydraulic elements. A starting and operating program is recorded in the ROM for automatic execution by the microprocessor when the module is connected to the supply voltage.
