PURPOSE: To guide a route conveniently by providing a host side unit for receiving current position information and transmitting voice information for guiding the route to a destination, and a terminal for receiving the information and guiding the route by voice. CONSTITUTION: The navigation system comprises a terminal 1 and a body (host) side unit 2 wherein current position information is transmitted, along with destination designating information, from the terminal 1 to the host side unit 2. The host side unit 2 calculates the shortest route from current position to a destination based on the received information and then transmits voice guide information S2 required for movement. The host side unit 2 comprises means for displaying newest map information or map including required destinations, and a host CPU for controlling respective sections and performing calculations. The host unit 2 is additionally provided with a function for communicating with the terminal 1. For example, various voice patterns generating voice guide information for the terminal 1 are stored in the host unit 2. |
