摘要 PURPOSE: To rapidly and surely write data by simultaneously applying a scan ning pulse to a scan electrode group, generating surface discharge, successively scanning the timing of the scanning pulse end corresponding to a scan line and applying a data pulse to a data electrode in matching with the timing of the scanning pulse end. CONSTITUTION: First of all, the scanning pulse 1 is applied to all scanning electrodes simultaneously. Then, the falls of the scanning pulse 1 are scanned successively. When no data pulse 4 is applied, secondary discharge is generated in the rise, and wall charge is neutralized. Then, no maintenance discharge is generated even when maintenance pulses 2, 3 are applied thereafter. This fact is called as self erase, and the self erase is controlled by setting the voltage of the scanning pulse 1. When the data are written, the data pulse 4 is raised in matching with the fall of the scanning pulse 1. Then, negative wall charge formed by the rise of the scanning pulse 1 on the scan electrode side flows to the data pulse 4 side, and write discharge occurs.
