PURPOSE: To provide a light emitting and receiving type focus detector which can obtain information from a larger number of distance measuring points and the scanning section of which is driven by a relatively simple and compact driving device. CONSTITUTION: Light rays emitted from a light source 1 form a luminous flux when the rays are passed through the opening of a mask 2 provided in front of the light source 1 and projected upon an object M as an emitted luminous flux having a prescribed diameter through a light emitting optical system 3 so that reflected light from the object M can be cast on the light receiving surface 5 of a light receiving element provided in the rear of a light receiving optical system 4 through the optical system 4. The light receiving element photoelectrically transducers received light into electric signals and sends the electric signals to an arithmetic processing means. The arithmetic processing means calculates the distance to the object M by performing arithmetic operation based on the triangulation. |
