PURPOSE: To obtain a process for producing a liquid crystal panel body which is sealed with ferroelectric liquid crystals or antiferroelectric liquid crystals, is capable of preventing zigzag defects and dendrite orientation abnormality from occurring, is industrially useful and features high productivity. CONSTITUTION: A pair of substrates 2, 3 facing each other are subjected to a rubbing treatment and linear spaces R are so formed between these substrates 2 and 3 as to line up in parallel with each other continuously in plural pieces. The ferroelectric liquid crystals or antiferroelectric liquid crystals are sealed into these linear spaces R. The sealed liquid crystals are maintained at a temp. at which the liquid crystals exhibit a high-temp. state phase (for example, isotropic phase). The sealed liquid crystals are thereafter cooled down to a temp. at which the liquid crystals exhibit a low-temp. state phase (for example, SmC* phase) from a temp. at which the liquid crystals exhibit a high-temp. state phase along the rubbing direction from the one of the linear spaces R toward the other ends. |
