PURPOSE: To automatically, easily and rapidly adjust image forming magnification without necessitating a measuring instrument and a manual operation by detecting a paper carrying speed and correcting an exposure scanning speed, or the paper carrying speed in accordance with the detection results in the case of forming an image. CONSTITUTION: A control part 60 has five following functions. (1) To actuate a scanning motor 71, to transmit the driving power to a variable power lens block and to suitably move the variable power lens block so as to vary the lateral magnification for forming the image. (2) To vary the longitudinal magnification for forming the image by varying a ratio of the exposure scanning speed to the paper carrying speed. (3) To count a time spent until the paper reaches the position of an outlet switch from the position of a pair of resist rollers when a magnification adjusting mode is set on a control display part 66 and to detect the actual paper carrying speed. (4) To store the detected carrying speed in a data memory 65. (5) To correct the exposure scanning speed, that is, the speed of the scanning motor 71 in accordance with the carrying speed stored in the data memory 65 at the time of copying. |
