PURPOSE: To provide an underwater-target detection apparatus by which an underwater target can be detected over a wide range. CONSTITUTION: A sound-generating bullet which uses gunpowder is used as a sound source. A plane arrangement-type wave-receiver array 8 in which a plurality of wave receivers are arranged in a plane shape on a plurality of horizontally and radially arranged arms is used as a wave-reception device. The interval between the sound-generating bullet 1 and the plane arrangement- type wave-receiver array 8 is separated at a maximum detection distance or larger at a time when the sound source and the wave-reception device are situated in the same position so as to be monostatic, and an underwater-target detection apparatus is formed to be of a bistatic type.
