PURPOSE: To form an image having no defects such as fogging by preventing the unevenness of potential in an image carrier by electrification which occurs when a contact electrifying member is used as an electrifying means for the image carrier, in an electrophotographic image forming device. CONSTITUTION: The DC voltage component of an AC-superimposed DC voltage applied to the contact electrifying member 2 arranged in contact with the image carrier 1 is controlled by a controller 9, based on the timing of the operation of an image writing device 4 or a transfer device 6. Therefore, even if the potential of the image carrier is dropped by the operation of the image writing device or the transfer device, the DC voltage component is increased to keep the potential by electrification of the image carrier 1 constant and form an excellent image having no defects such as fogging. |
