PURPOSE: To prevent a walker from hitting against a gate and to improve traffic efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A gate driving device is so constructed that a case 1 is provided adjacent to a passage 2, and the base end of a gate 4 is supported on a rotary shaft 3 disposed in an erect attitude on a case 1a, and the gate 4 is driven in rotation in the region of 180 degrees in the horizontal direction. The driving device comprises a driven member 5 fixed to the rotary shaft 3, a driving shaft 7 driven in rotation by a driving source 6 disposed parallel to the rotary shaft 3, and a driving member 8 fixed to the driving shaft 7. The rotating direction of the gate 4 is made agree with the direction of a walker's passing through the passage, so that at the time of opening the passage 2, the gate 4 is prevented from hitting against the walker so as to improve safety. Further, it is not necessary for a walker to retreat from the gate not to be an obstacle to the rotating operation of the gate 4, or to stand previously at a designated space from the gate 4 so as to improve traffic efficiency. |
