PURPOSE: To improve picture quality by properly selecting a display color of a pixel in color image display. CONSTITUTION: The image data are inputted (S10), and after these are divided to partial areas (S20), the number of typical colors at every partial area are decided (S30). Typical colors according to the number of typical colors are selected, and are stored in corresponding partial spaces in a typical color storage space 10 (S41-S44). The partial spaces in the typical color storage space 10 are retrieved, and the typical color the nearest to the data of an objective pixel is selected as the display color (S51-S53), and LUT is formed (S60). A pixel signal is converted to RGB signals based on the LUT (S70), and the RGB signals are converted to analog signals through a D/A converter (S80) to be displayed on a display (S90). |
