PURPOSE: To reduce dispersion in correlation values and correctly recognize patterns by forming a reference image, an inspection image and a matching image obtained by matching the reference image and inspection image, and thinning these images. CONSTITUTION: A reference object to be inspected is photographed. The image data are processed to obtain an input image. The input image is differentiated and binarized to extract an outline of the reference object to form a reference image. In order to inspect an object, similarly, the object is photographed and an inspection image is formed by extracting the outline. The inspection image is matched with the reference image. A matching image of an outline 4 wherein the reference object and the inspection object are overlapped is formed. Thereafter, the reference image, inspection image and matching image are thinned to form a thinned reference image 5, a thinned inspection image 6 and a thinned matching image 7. The correlation of the formed images 5, 6 and 7 is obtained, and the object is hence evaluated. |
