The invention comprises a device for checking eggs by means of mechanical vibrations, comprising: support means for supporting an egg which is to be checked; an exciter for exciting the egg which is to be checked; a transducer for detecting the vibrations which are generated in the egg by the exciter and for converting the vibrations into electrical signals; and a measuring instrument, which is connected to the transducer, for analysing the electrical signals which are emitted by the transducer, the exciter being designed to excite the egg which is to be checked by means of single action. By subjecting the egg to a pulse-like excitation of this nature, the egg is excited at a large number of frequencies, since a pulse can be considered to be composed of a large number of frequencies. Consequently, the egg is simultaneously excited at a large number of frequencies, so that the response of the egg has many more degrees of freedom, and therefore the response signals which are obtained provide much more information about the egg. |
