Manure-covering means are generally known. For example, the prior art includes manure grates on which the animals (for example pigs, cows, etc.) walk/stand. The manure falls through the manure grates into a manure-storage chamber. Increasingly stringent environmental legislation means that it is necessary to adapt animal sheds in order to reduce the ammonia emissions. By designing the manure-covering means as a closed plate and providing gutters, it becomes possible to satisfy the stringent environmental requirements.
